3:00 PM SPACE Presents Dreamworks' Madagascar Jr.
SPACE Presents Dreamworks’ Madagascar Jr.\r\n\r\nNear & Arnold’s School of Performing Arts & Cultural Education presents Dreamworks’ Madagascar Jr., a family musical adventure based on the animation motion picture and featuring 37 youth ages 10 - 14. Madagascar Jr., is directed by Evan Gaustad, with musical direction by Janice Timm, choreography by Tracy Thieriot and produced by Paulette Arnold. Laugh, sing and dance to “Move It, Move It” and other showstoppers at the newly renovated SPACE Theater, on Saturday January 20 & 27, 2018, with showings at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18 and are available at the Mendocino Book Company and the SPACE Box Office. 5:30 PM ESL Literacy Class Starting Now
Do you know someone who would like to learn English as a Second Language, but who might feel hesitant to take classes because he or she cannot read or write well in their own native language? Maybe they write very slowly in Spanish, or not at all, or maybe they can write in Arabic or with Chinese characters, but are not familiar with the Roman alphabet. There is a class especially tailored for these students starting now, opening the path for more advanced English classes. Support is available now for students with limited literacy in their native language or unfamiliarity with the Roman alphabet and it is free. The English as a Second Language Literacy Class takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 to 8:00 PM, at the Ukiah Adult School, 1056 N. Bush St., next to Frank Zeek School. To do this, the Grassroots Institute will be holding a collaborative series of workshops on building an economy for our common good in Mendocino County at the North County Center/Willits Campus of Mendocino College, Saturday mornings 10 AM to Noon, every two weeks starting January 27.
